A good editor is organized. A good editor is methodical, attentive and has an eye for detail.

A good editor is patient and knows every shot that was filmed. Every one. To the frame. A good editor knows the footage better than the Director or DoP.

A good editor knows how to tell a story in ten different ways, transforming it into ten different stories.

A good editor dedicates themselves to each story as if it is the only one in the world and carries it in their head even when they sleep at night.
They often solve narrative problems away from the computer, while doing menial daily tasks.

And a good editor is always looking for images with heart, loose shots that incarnate the possibility of telling a story in which we, the audience, see a part of ourselves. Because the films a good editor creates are reflections of who we are.

That's a good editor.
